Not something you want to take on lightly, but sometimes you have to. Similar to our earlier suggestion of repairing Office (see #3 Repair Your Microsoft Office above), perform the same steps except choose to Uninstall. Be aware that you may need your product key if you received one. This option could be useful if you constantly have to wait for Outlook to rebuild its data file when you restart. No matter how well written add-ins are Fix Outlook troubleshooting hub (and even Outlook itself), there will always be the occasional Outlook problem that doesn’t seem to go away or may not be related to add-ins at all.

When the Mapi32.dll file is damaged or corrupt, you may encounter the following send and receive error while sending or receiving messages in Microsoft Outlook. Poor network or internet connection can lead to Outlook send and receive errors as the client fails to communicate with the mail server. Thus, it’s important to ensure that your internet is working. If you find stuck messages, follow these steps to clear them and resolve the Outlook send and receive error. If you are not sure, disable the firewall temporarily to check if it’s the cause behind the Outlook send/receive error. After disabling, if you’re able to send/receive new messages, contact the admin or service provider for the information and make changes to the firewall settings.

MAPI does not validate that a provider's DLL that it is requested to load is registered correctly in MapiSVC.inf or even that it comes from the local machine. This can be exploited by creating a file together with an OLE object in such a way to cause MAPI to load a DLL from a network share when the OLE object is activated. To access the calendar shared with your Microsoft 365 for business account, you'll need to accept the invitation from Outlook on the web, iOS, or Android. If you've already clicked the Accept button in Outlook 2016, you won't be able to re-accept the invitation from another Outlook application.

Add-ins that are no longer used still load, contributing to the slower startup of Outlook. Disabling the non-essential add-ins should see an improvement in start times as well as stability. Corrupted files may not only impact performance but also trigger errors such as 0x f, which typically means Outlook can’t access its data file or address book. Creating a new profile or repairing the data file often helps resolve it.
